Our Mission
Team Purpose
Mature students into principled industry leaders for their post-undergraduate careers by executing a comprehensive industry standard approach to interdisciplinary design, prototyping, and systems engineering.
What We Do
PART designs, builds, and tests a two-vehicle system from the ground up each year to compete in an international competition. PART's Uninhabited Aerial System (UAS) air-drops an Uninhabited Ground Vehicle (UGV), both of which will complete a series of tasks demonstrating their ability to operate and navigate autonomously while performing remote sensing missions representative of real-world problems.

Team Structure
New and improved structure for the 2022/23 academic year.
The upcoming academic term brings significant expansion and change to PART's structure with the continued development of the newly introduced R&D and BMD teams. These teams work alongside the competition team to expose our members to a professional environment, contributing to our overall mission. Such improvements will also afford each team to explore beyond previous bounds, whether that be integrating experimental AI or extending outreach programs to new community groups.

INNOVATION IN UAS DESIGN
Unique approaches and new methods of manufacturing.
We use precise engineering and next generation construction methods to create effective airframes using 75%+ composite materials. Our modern designs are achieved using additive and subtractive manufacturing methods that are fueled by high precision tools and machinery. This has yielded a 30% reduction in weight along with an outstanding increase in mechanical properties and strength.

CUSTOMIZED POWER SYSTEMS
Nurturing skills in a range of domains of electrical engineering.
Development of internal systems for aircraft avionics and navigation is what gives our mission system its top-notch performance. Our members create custom PCBs for power distribution, communication systems, and avionics wiring. Having these systems created internally provides us with the ability to effectively understand and maintain our UAS throughout its mission lifecycle.

INTEGRATION OF COMPLEX SYSTEMS
Custom mechanical systems for specific mission profiles
Our organization explores the design and manufacturing of mechanical components including complex parachute deployment systems, precision payload selection and release mechanisms, and customized landing gear for our airframes. Specialized systems allow us to complete our complex missions as precisely and effectively as possible.

Computer Vision
We’re changing the way the world thinks about UAS
Our software is developed using machine learning algorithms to power our integrated target detection and classification models. Our networks learn from a diverse data set that is both sourced both synthetically and recreated with high accuracy. This AI platform is optimized to be deployed on the edge with maximum efficiency.
